Overview

Assign tasks to team members to clarify ownership and make it easy to find your work. Assignment works alongside the creator field — a task’s creator and assignee can be different people.

Assigning a Task

You can assign a task when creating a todo or at any time afterward:
  1. Open a todo task.
  2. Click the assignee dropdown (or press Cmd + A).
  3. Select a workspace member from the list.
The assignment updates immediately. The assignee’s avatar appears on the task card throughout the workspace.
Assignment is available for todo tasks. When a todo is launched, it keeps its assignment. If no one is assigned when a todo is launched, the person who launched it becomes the assignee automatically.

Reassigning

To change who a task is assigned to, open the assignee dropdown and select a different person. There’s no confirmation step — the reassignment happens instantly.

Unassigning

Select Unassigned from the assignee dropdown to remove the current assignment. The task remains in the workspace but won’t appear under anyone’s “Assigned to me” filter.

Filtering by Assignee

Use the filter dropdown above the task list to focus on relevant work:
FilterShows
AllEvery task in the workspace.
YouTasks you created.
Assigned to meTasks assigned to you.
OthersTasks created by other members.
[Specific person]Tasks created by that person.
Filters work alongside search — you can search within a filtered view.
“You” filters by creator, while “Assigned to me” filters by assignee. A task you created and assigned to someone else appears under “You” but not “Assigned to me”.

Task Ownership Display

Each task card shows both the creator and assignee:
  • The assignee avatar appears on the left with a colored ring.
  • The creator avatar appears on the right.
  • Hover over the avatars to see a popover with names and roles (e.g., “Assigned to Alice” and “Created by Bob”).
If a task is unassigned, only the creator avatar is shown.
